About Alta Loma
The foothills of Rancho Cucamonga
Alta Loma, Spanish for "high hill," covers the northwest side of Rancho Cucamonga, rising toward the San Gabriel Mountains. It was one of the three communities that formed the city in 1977.
The area is known for established neighborhoods, a range of lot sizes and, in parts of the community, equestrian-zoned properties. Many streets on the upper slopes have views across the valley.

Buying in Alta Loma
Things to know
- Older homes: many homes are a few decades old. A thorough inspection, including roof, plumbing, electrical and sewer line, helps you understand what you're buying.
- Equestrian and large lots: if you want horses, animals or a big yard, I'll help you confirm zoning and any trail easements on a property.
- Fire hazard zones: some foothill properties are in designated fire hazard severity zones, which can affect insurance. Get insurance quotes early.
- Schools: confirm school assignments directly with the district.
